In his career as a diplomat, William Shepard served as Consul General to Bordeaux, France from 1983 through 1985. During that time, he visited numerous wine chateaux throughout the region (lucky guy). Due to his wine expertise, he was made a member of the Ordre des Chevaliers Bretvins. While stationed in Bordeaux, Shepard lectured at the Universities of Bordeaux, Toulouse, Poitiers and Limoges.Shepard is a member of several Bordeaux wine societies, including the Commanderie de Bordeaux. His e-book, Shepard's Guide to Mastering French Wines, has been a best-seller in the USA and the UK. Shepard regularly presents French wine tasting seminars and is the wine editor for French Wine Explorers.
