Destination Weddings on the Eastern Shore

Destination weddings are all the rage these days. But you don't have to travel to Hawaii, the Caribbean, or Disneyworld to entertain a wedding/vacation all in one. In fact, some of the best destinations for weddings can be a short drive from your backyard.

The Eastern Shore of Maryland is one bucolic setting guaranteed to fill the bill for the romantic day. The Inn at 202 Dover in Easton specializes in elegant affairs for wedding parties ranging from two to 200 (the latter only if outdoor tents are employed). Because the inn is intimate, the planning, according to veteran wedding expert Raquel Shutt, is far less intimidating and more easily personalized to the bride and groom.

The owner of Wedding Savvy says two of the virtues of the Inn at 202, particularly for parties of fewer than 80, are size and layout. "The grounds are lovely," says Shutt, "while the inn is well-maintained. It just feels low-key, homey and comfortable, yet quite refined."

Moreover, menus are developed by the chef of the Inn's Five Diamond-rated Peacock Restaurant. "A lot of places make you choose from specified menus," says Shutt. "At the Inn at 202, the chef and staff work with the wedding couple to custom-design a menu they will absolutely love. Plus, they are totally flexible in terms of special requests."

A few other advantages, according to proprietor Ron Mitchell, are the lack of fees for every little thing (like cake cutting and dishes) and pricing alcohol by actual consumption rather than per person. Without the standard nickel and diming that often occurs at wedding venues, the happy couple won't have to worry about post-nuptial tiffs over unexpected wedding costs.

Such fabulous wedding details. Truly everyone wants to have perfect wedding but it is impossible if you don’t have hired the appropriate venue. I had spring themed ceremony so I preferred booking one of the garden themed LA venues for that.
